SUSTAINABLY BUILT FARMHOUSE PART OF GLOUCESTER GARDEN RAMBLE

What a weekend!  Visitors from everywhere came to Gloucester to take part in the Garden Ramble.  And our sustainably built, off-the-grid house at the farm was part of it. The house is reliant on solar cells to generate 240V power.  There are also hot water solar panels (backed up by a fuel stove) for reticulated water heating, through in-room radiators in winter. The house takes advantage of the northern orientation to provide winter warmth, which is stored in the stained concrete floors. The U shaped plan encloses a protected courtyard against the hill behind. The Flowform water cascade and pond helps temper the dry micro-climate.  It was wonderful to be able to share our house and garden and be part of this event in beautiful Gloucester.www.barringtonriverorganicfarm.com.au
